Bio for
this ham--- Mr. Badham
Mr.
Badham, has had a long history with the net. His
contributions have been many. He is an expert on everything and
knows what is best for everyone. He has many amateur call signs but
sometimes elects to not give it on the air. He contributes by making
snide comments, playing music, putting a shaver on his microphone,
making rude sounds, and just about anything else he can think of to
cause trouble for those on the net.
Mr.
Badham lives in many places around the world. Sometimes
he is DX and other times he is stateside. He has friends who also
enjoy causing trouble and he occasionally recruits them to join him
in the fun. He hates many things in the world and expresses this
hatred whenever he gets a chance. He has a miserable life and feels
it is his mission to spread this discontent to everyone else, so
they can be as miserable as he has become.
You and I
have probably heard him or even had a QSO with him. I can remember
one time when I talked to him on the air and he expressed his
philosophy to me as follows:
I hates
them there DX nets. I worked hard here in my home in
Georgia
, he lived in
Georgia
that day. I have my multi-long boom beams stacked up there on my 190
foot tower
that is connected to my home brew amplifier running (3) 8877s.
I
just don’t understand why those slimy snake, low life trailer
trash lizards have to go on a DX net to work DX. “
All the real hams here in my area work DX in the regular way
not just giving the lass toooo, like those (*&#%^$) do on the DX
nets. There should be a law, there should be a law, I tell you!! The
ARRL should not counts any of them there contacts they make on them
there DX nets!!”
I tried to tell Mr.
Badham that there are a lot of hams
around the world that do not have the resources to put up a
wonderful station like he had. I told him that some hams just want to work
DX in a casual manner while just having fun and enjoying each other
on the air and spreading understanding and goodwill around the
world. He would not be
persuaded and told me that working DX was a blood
sport and should only
be done by real red
blooded men like him and
his friends.
Sometimes
Mr. Badham does not go on the frequency and disruption the
net directly. He just
snuggles up close to the net frequency and his activities that are less
then 3 KHz away cause as much trouble as coming on the frequency
itself. Yes, it is true that good practice calls for any ham, if it
is a net or
not, to be at least 3Khz away from an existing QSO. And yes, if
someone else is on the frequency first the net should QSY away. BUT when there has been a traditional group as long
running as the W7PHO Family Hour with many hams all over the world
knowing that the net meets daily on 14.245 you would think that common courtesy
would dictate that a small group of friends could move away just a
little to show some consideration for others. Yes I know that the
other group may be legally correct, but come on Mr. Badham,
why not you be the magnanimous one?
Mr.
Badham will be going into the home soon. He obviously has advanced
stages of dementia and or old-timers disease. He currently wears
diapers and takes his meds when his care taker reminds him. He will spend his
final days a bitter old man with few friends, messing himself in
some rest home bed. We can only hope that sometime before that
happens, he gets a life and becomes a productive ham again.
